I will Always Love You..........

Nandina's Scarlet Dymond

8-08-1993 -- 4-06-2009

This photo was taken the day before she left us.

~Miss Scarlet was very special in her own Little way!~

She was only 12'' tall & "The Queen Bee" around here!

Scarlet, lived to be 15 years 8 months old.

She was barely 3 oucnes at birth, a bottle baby for 6 weeks.

Scarlet won such a special place in our hearts we couldn't

bear to part with her. Make no mistake tho' this is not the

size we breed for, you rarely get'um this small.

Scarlet has always been the most comforting companion

pet in every sense, she out lived her 3 litter mates to boot!

As some would call her the"Grand Dam" here at Nandina.

Respectfully so since she hands down her legacy

which is to teach all our other sheltie kids the

"Rules Of The Inn!"

Monday April 6th at 2:38 PM Scarlet earned her angel wings and went

to see her father Cochise, her mother Callie, and her best fur buddy

Spanky, as well as our other Nandina children at the Bridge.

How I Envy Her!!!

I do believe I heard her whisper to me as we shared one last kiss.

"I will meet you at the Bridge when it is your time mom......"

One of my favorite stories of the life and times

of Scarlet's Legacy.

"The Hunk and the Drunk"

About 12 years ago Scarlet and I took a girls weekend off in October and headed

to the beach. What a wonderful time we planned to have!  The weather was beautiful

and the beach was even more serene.  After checking in our hotel Scarlet and I

decided it would be nice the spend the last part of the afternoon down by the water.

So we packed a beach bag and off we went.  Scarlet much like her dad Cochise

was a "salty dog" as they say, for they loved the beach, the surf and sand.

They would play for hours fetching the frisbee jumping over the smaller curling

waves to get that toy. They were so cute as the two of them would bring it back

holding onto it together. On this particular day we laid down our blanket and

had our cool drink.  Just as we were getting comfy, over stroles this tall well

tanned gorgeous life guard!  Ahhhhh... I am thinking I still have IT!  LOL! Well

much to my surprise this hunky fellow came over to flirt with Scarlet....hummm?

He was nice to mention that she could play on his beach as long as she wanted

too for she was just so cute!  He said his goodbye and headed back to

his perch on the lifeguards stand.  OK, guess I could accept that.

Then just as I began to relax, down the beach comes this man on a bycicle....

weaving and not to stable on his set of wheels. He pulls up to us and begans to

start a conversation with me.....but when the slurred speach came I knew he had

been drinking...and  a LOT!  Just my luck, now I got to get rid of this jerk so he

will not follow me back to my hotel.  I gracefully said I had friends to meet

and took a walk down the beach.  To my surprise when I returned he was still

hanging around so now what was I to do?  I glanced over to see a group of

senior citizens, brilliant!  I went over to ask if Scarlet and I could join them

because of the man that was pestering us.  Of course they were happy to allow

us to pal up with them.  So for the rest of the 3 day holiday Scarlet and I hung

out with the senior citizens and enjoyed every minute.  We had a blast!

So as the story goes Scarlet got the Hunk and I got the Drunk....ggggggg!
